Many prolife Catholics still seem stunned by the election results and go no further than cautious predictions. Kathryn Jean Lopez, editor of NRO, interviewed Thomas D. Williams author of the new book Knowing Right From Wrong: A Christian Guide to Conscience. He is Dean of theology and professor of moral theology and Catholic social thought at the Regina Apostolorum Pontifical University in Rome.
Michael Novak, also on NRO recalled his emotions during JFK's election. He watched the news in the cafeteria of Harvard Law School and was surprised to discover tears streaming down his cheeks. Novak's comments echoed my Boston-born husband's wry remark that many African American emotions in the wake of Obama's victory resonate with his childhood in Boston, where the Kennedy's continued to provoke a powerful sense of pride decades after JFK's breakthrough campaign.
